The “One More” Trap is an Addiction. It’s the pursuit of one more zero, one more deal, that keeps you on the treadmill long after you’ve hit the goals you set five years ago. - This can't be said enough. I strongly believe this is at the core of so many problems we face as a species.

Yes. All of our devices and social platforms are designed to keep us stuck in “one more.”

The market only pays for value”. That’s an important point and where focus can hone in on what’s most important.

Amazing article!! I truly believe that we burnout when we are not aligned with our path and with who we truly are.

Leading well starts with protecting the parts of you the work depends on.

I’ve felt that burnout too, grinding without clarity.

Pairing high-value focus with a simple system, like My Accountability Partner, helps keep energy and decisions aligned daily.

Do you find that small, consistent practices make the biggest difference in staying centered as a leader?

Dennis Berry's avatar

Yes well said. And yes small consistent habits build empires.

In fact I would argue that it’s the small practices that make all the difference.

Everybody does the big things. 🔥

might think we could never get burnt out from travel but it happens, we pour a lot into work and that's part of it, you have to constantly remind yourself of your "why", and it should never be just to grind, no matter what your work is

Dennis Berry's avatar

Well said amigo. I get the travel thing. That’ll suck you dry. ✈️

The one more trap is huge, there could be multiple books about that. Thanks for sharing! Love your candor

Dennis Berry's avatar

Yes agreed. There is always one more thing… but not always one more minute with your family ☹️

This is a solid articulation.

I especially agree with this: "Burnout is a Failure of Strategy, Not Willpower."

It's the ultimate lie we tell ourselves in the early stages: that if we just push harder, the flawed model will suddenly work. It doesn't.

Dennis Berry's avatar

So true. The wrong strategy is a killer

James Presbitero's avatar

"Burnout is a fundamental failure of strategy and emotional architecture." Brilliant. Completely agree.

It's true that we treat burnout like a personal failing when it's really a sign that the way we're working is broken. I'm currently in this stage and trying to redesign my life so success doesn't have to cost me my health or sanity. Thanks for putting this together!!
