Breaking the Addiction Cycle with Neuroscience
How to smash ALL your addictions and build an amazing life NOW!
Join us for a workshop with Dr. Robb Kelly, Psychologist and Behavioral Scientist, to learn the science behind our behaviors, and how to manage them.
For those who don’t know, before I built a nice little life for myself, I was a crazy maniac alcoholic drug addict for about 15 years.
I’ve now been sober for 22 years and I spend MY life helping others recover from that struggle.
And, since that topic is close to my heart, I’m bringing my friend Dr. Robb Kelly to break down the whole process of addiction, how to smash through it… and build a beautiful life.
Dr. Robb is a psychologist and behavioral scientist and an elite expert in the world of recovery… and the perfect person to deliver this message.
He is also a close friend of Chef Gordon Ramsey and Gary Brecka, and has worked with some of the biggest celebrities on the planet … so you can trust that he knows his stuff.
AND, since it’s New Year and I know people are struggling to quit alcohol and drugs (or food, or porn or whatever)… NOW is the perfect time!
This is the first workshop in an Elite Series that I have planned in the weeks and months to follow in 2026.
And, if you’re struggling in the meantime, please shoot me a message. I never turn away anybody struggling with addiction.
What to expect:
Understand the role of neural pathways in addiction and trauma
The role of trauma in addiction
Addiction as a brain malady, not a behavioral problem
Learn how to utilize evidence-based treatment models
What this workshop covered:
Why “Willpower” Isn’t Enough: Rewiring the Alcoholic Brain for Good
Have you ever wondered why, despite your best intentions, the cycle of addiction seems impossible to break? Why you can wake up with a fierce resolve to stay sober, only to find yourself reaching for a drink by sunset?
In our recent workshop, I sat down with Dr. Rob Kelly (The Addiction Doctor) to pull back the curtain on the “hijacked brain.” What we discussed wasn’t just another lecture on “don’t drink”… it was a masterclass in neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and the power of the human spirit.
It’s Not a Moral Failing; It’s a Biological Hijack
Dr. Kelly, who has spent 30 years studying the brain, shared a perspective that offers immediate relief to anyone struggling: Alcoholism is often rooted in biology. For the “real alcoholic,” the hypothalamus - the part of your brain responsible for survival (like breathing and eating) - actually hijacks your system. It begins to view alcohol not as a choice, but as a survival necessity. When your brain thinks it needs alcohol to survive as much as it needs water, willpower doesn’t stand a chance.
The Root: Childhood Trauma and the “All or Nothing” Mind
One of the most profound takeaways from the session was the link between childhood trauma and addiction. Dr. Kelly explained that:
Self-sabotage is a learned behavior, often imprinted in childhood.
Normalized trauma (things we didn’t even realize were “bad” at the time) creates “freeways” in our brain that lead us back to old patterns.
The “All or Nothing” mind is a double-edged sword. While it fuels addiction, it is also the same engine that can build empires and create massive success once the brain is rewired.
The Hope: Neuroplasticity and 7.3 Seconds
The most exciting news? Your brain is not hardwired. Through neuroplasticity, you can dismantle the old “self-sabotage freeways” and build new paths for self-care and success.
Dr. Kelly shared that there is a 7.3-second window where we have the power to pause and choose the “new” neuropathway over the old one. Recovery isn’t about being “cured”; it’s about becoming a “PhD in yourself.”
3 Simple Tools to Start Rewiring Your Brain Today
You don’t need a lab to start changing your mind. Dr. Kelly suggests these daily “brain-hacks”:
Oxygenate: Take 20 exaggerated breaths to flood your conscious brain with the oxygen it needs to lead.
Pattern Interrupt: Brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand to force your brain to build new connections.
Mirror Work: Look yourself in the mirror (6 feet back) and say “I love you” 10 times. It sounds simple, but it targets the subconscious shame that keeps the cycle alive.
The Bottom Line: You Are Your Own Healer
Dr. Kelly’s journey - from stage performing at age nine to homelessness, and eventually to reconciling with his daughter after 30 years - is proof that no one is too far gone. Recovery is about uncovering the trauma, discovering your true identity, and discarding the patterns that no longer serve you. As Dr. Kelly says, “Today is where the magic happens.”
